Define the design early on. I needed to conform to the clients requirements by keeping the UI in sync with the business requirements. When I started with this projects we were discussing a lot of different design directions which inevitably confused the client and meant feedback received was very scattered. In the end we decided to concentrate on one design style which we used to create the current site and documentation.
